Hello! I’m Matt Graham, a seasoned technologist with over 15 years of experience in web development and a versatile background in various technologies. Currently, I am a Senior Web Developer at Sandbox Software Solutions, where I specialize in creating bespoke web themes tailored to meet unique client requirements and enhancing their digital presence.
Professional Journey
As a Senior Web Developer, my role involves conducting thorough code reviews, addressing complex technical issues, and ensuring adherence to WordPress Coding Standards and Git best practices. I efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outputs. In addition to my technical responsibilities, I mentor team members through one-on-one sessions and group meetings, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
I am dedicated to continuous improvement, always researching and implementing potential features to enhance client sites while adhering to industry standards. A significant part of my role includes integrating AI and large language models (LLMs) to assist with coding, documentation, and automating repetitive tasks. I actively report my findings and best practices to the company, driving innovation and efficiency.
Expertise and Accomplishments
My expertise spans PHP (Laravel, CodeIgniter, WordPress themes and plugins), JavaScript (React, Backbone, Vanilla, ThreeJS), HTML5, and CSS (LESS, SASS & SCSS). Additionally, I have extensive experience in live audio engineering, having worked in churches for over 30 years in both volunteer and professional capacities.
Throughout my career, I have contributed to several notable projects:
- Red Lion Canada’s Virtual World Website: Developed a virtual, stylized city using ThreeJS, JavaScript, and AngularJS, and integrated Mobile APIs for enhanced user control.
- You Will You Are Campaign by Friends of Ruby: Built a WordPress-based platform to collect and moderate stories from LGBTQI2S community members, amplifying their voices and raising awareness.
- KidsAbility: Created an accessible, visually appealing website for an organization supporting over 17,000 children and youth with special needs in Kitchener, Ontario.
Professional Philosophy
My approach to web development is driven by a passion for helping others and a relentless pursuit of learning new techniques. I thrive on solving problems and delivering high-quality solutions that make a difference. Whether it’s through mentoring team members or exploring the latest technologies, my goal is to continuously improve and innovate.
Career Aspirations
As I look towards the next step in my career, I am eager to move into a team lead or managerial role. My extensive experience in project management, team mentoring, and technical leadership has prepared me well for this transition. I am excited about the opportunity to leverage my skills to guide and inspire a team, driving success through innovation and collaboration.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, biking, and model building, especially sci-fi models. While these hobbies haven’t intersected with my professional life yet, they reflect my creativity and attention to detail.
